Wgtn meeting, Wed 17 April 2024

Unfortunately, last month's meeting did not go ahead because Roger informed us at the last minute that he was going to have a medical examination on the Thursday. It seems all went well. As a consequence, this month's meeting will once again focus on computer-related YouTube videos.

As always the meeting will begin at 6;00pm at Ron Oliver's, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

Wgtn meeting, Wed 20 March 2024

This month's meeting is going to feature another evening of computer-related YouTube videos, so if there are any such videos that you find particularly interesting, and feel that other members might feel the same away about them, come to the meeting and select them for watching.

As always, the meeting will be in Ron Oliver's basement at 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, with a starting time of 6:30pm. Feel free to turn up earlier for a chat if you feel so inclined.

Wgtn meeting Wed 21 February 2024

Welcome to the first Wellington meeting for 2024. Richard Elam has bought himself a mini-PC and is going to connect it up to a wireless keyboard and mouse and a monitor to demonstrate its overall ability, as well as talking about it and showing some YouTube videos on it. It may be difficult to fill in the normal time that the meetings last for but it should still be an interesting evening, nonetheless. The meeting will commence at 6:30pm in Ron Oliver's basement, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

Wgtn meeting Wed 20 December 2023

For the final meeting of the year, Roger is going to talk about Google Maps, and how useful they can be. I  remember after he returned from a holiday in Asia, he told us how helpful they had been for finding out-of-the-way places in countries he had never visited before. I have previously been advising members that the meetings' start time is 6.00 pm. That was designed to allow people to come along half an hour earlier for a chat before the meeting actually started. I have been asked to amend that time to 6.30 pm. As always, it is in the basement at Ron Oliver's home, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

Usually, at this time of the year, we have drinks and nibbles before the meeting. This year, however, that will not happen. Anne Duncan, who buys the non-alcoholic beverages and food to eat, is going into hospital to have heart surgery just prior to this meeting, so we decided to forgo that part of it. We wish Anne well with the operation and hope she will be back to her former self afterwards, although we realise there will be a period of recuperation..

The club would like to take this opportunity of wishing all members the compliments of the season.

Wgtn meeting Wed 15 November 2023

This month's meeting is definitely offering something a little different - and involves individual participation! Those who attend the meeting have to chose a smartphone app they enjoy using and explain what it does and why they enjoy using it.

If this appeals to you, do come along to the  meeting and join in. As always, it will be held at 39 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn, with a starting time of 6.00 pm.

Wgtn meeting Wed 18 October 2023

For reasons that I won't go into, there is no firm topic for the October meeting, - not at the time of writing, anyway. I may have more news in a day or two. If that happens, I shall post another notice.

There will still be a meeting so feel free to turn up at Ron Oliver's, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, at 6.00 pm and take 'pot luck' that whatever is discussed may be of interest to you.

Wgtn meeting Wed 20 Sept 2023

Firstly, apologies for a lack of notice about last month's meeting. I was having a friend to stay at the time and it just got overlooked.

I suppose I could have taken the same approach for this month's meeting as well because, unfortunately, a topic for discussion hasn't been organised. That task usually takes place at the previous month's committee meeting, held a week after the main meeting, but we didn't have such a meeting last month because Richard, our secretary/treasurer, was in the process of having cataract surgery on each of his eyes and wasn't allowed to drive durng that time.

My suggestion is to simply come along to the meeting tomorrow night at 39 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn and take pot luck in the hope that it will involve a  topic that is of interest to you.
